Glenfeliz is a community. A small neighborhood elementary school, it’s a place where every teacher knows and looks out for every child. Where every student is personally welcomed as they come in to school each morning. Where sixth graders wait at the gate to walk kindergarteners to class, holding hands. Where parents get to know each other and pitch in, volunteering in the classroom or helping with the garden.
It’s a community that celebrates the joy of learning. Where children find awe in nature, watching caterpillars build chrysalises and then re-emerge as butterflies before their eyes in the classroom. Where the entire school recognizes and applauds when a child reads their first one hundred books or meets another milestone.
Glenfeliz is also a community that strives to nurture the unique personalities, gifts, and interests of every child. Students advance in their studies at the pace that works best for them, participating in mixed-grade “academies” that provide an appropriate level of challenge for every student. Teachers, parents, and administrators work collaboratively to help each child excel.
