Literacy Support

Glenfeliz has a Wonder of Reading library that contains over 5,000 volumes and computers that are available for students to use for research. The library is staffed by a full-time library aide and provides technology-based book check out and computer research capabilities.
The Glenfeliz 100 Book Club was designed so that your child could experience a multitude of literature throughout the school year. Our school has set a goal for each child to read 100 books by the end of the school year. Some will meet their 100 goal much sooner, so we will reward them for the next hundred they read and so on.  For those students who have reached the goal of 100 books, there will be a special event planned. It is our expectation that students read 20 minutes at home every day. Most of all, help your child enjoy the stories they read and they will learn to appreciate words and have a better time learning them. Thank you for your help in supporting your child's reading! Please take time to enjoy reading with your child throughout this year.
Glenfeliz partners with community volunteers to bring the excitement of reading out loud to our classrooms. Enthusiastic, animated adults will bring every story to life and inspire a love of reading that will last a lifetime! You can visit to view stories and enjoy activities at home. Storyline Online has a library of imaginatively produced videos featuring celebrated actors and complementary activity guides available 24-hours a day!
Annually, students participate in Read Across America to celebrate reading.  Reading Circles and buddy reading take place on the playground along with fun dress-up days like Crazy Sock Day and Crazy Hat Day.
